Seeing as this is official sentimental day on Noisy Decent Graphics I thought I'd give you lot a Christmas present.
I've been thinking about writing an end of year review of NDG. A 10 best posts or something. But that's so fucking vain. So instead I thought I'd give you a present. I nearly bought you some books, but it didn't seem right for a blog. So instead here's a Web 2.0 gift.
Here at Noisy Decent Graphics we are giving away a Flickr Pro account. Yes, one lucky listener will be given a special Christmas gift worth $24.95. I've been using Flickr for the last couple of months and I've really enjoyed it. There aren't enough graphic designers blogging so I'd really like to give you a Typepad blog but they don't have such a neat online gift system. So a Flickr account it is.
How do you win? Simple. In the comments below you must do one simple thing.
1) Tell me what your first photograph on Flickr will be.
Competition closes Sunday 17th December at midnight. I'll decide who wins. Noisy Decent Graphics is not a democracy.

I already have 2. So Im not going to enter, but I wanted to say that Ive thoroughly enjoyed your blog over the last few months that Ive been reading it, nice work fella.
Also, over on my blog I posted that, as a BAFTA member I get invited to a load of screenings from now until Jan and that I usually have a spare ticket and that I wanted to throw it open to anyone who might fancy a free film. Didn't get many takers, so I'm happy to extend the offer to you, your company and readers.
The senitmentality continues to flow.

Exactly what I wanted to ask to Santa this year, because Flickr is great, but I'm sure I'll enjoy it more with a pro account. The first picture I would post is a portrait of my wife's mother, because it's her I asked to give me that present I expect so much, but she does not have any clue of what I'm talkin'bout. So you would make two people happy - yes, she's really embarassed with that fliqueur thang.

My first picture would most definitely be my little girls face opening her first xmas present on her first xmas morning.

I'm not going to enter either, because I'm an interloper rather than a graphic designer.
For argument's sake, "First shot", anyway? I keep meaning to take this and post it on my Flickr, but haven't got round to it: the rooftops of Cambridge from the building where I work, at sunset, because this weird, screwed-up, beautiful town's where I started really learning to be me.
Flickr's fantastic. Really, really impressed with the way it's been thought through. Whoever wins'll have a great time with it.

My first picture would be the surprised look on my face once I'd figured out how to use Flickr. On reading the above I think Mike should win. I have a picture of my little girl opening her first pressie on her first Christmas morning and it's precious. She looks so bored, it's unreal.

Not a graphic designer, though I love the subject.
I would post either the best building or most interesting piece of typography I see over the Xmas build up...

I'd do "Thanks Ben!" in wood type, taken at a jaunty angle.
(Very important that jaunty angle).

Either of me looking grumpy, or of my red socks.

Again, not a graphic designer (do we count? If not, I'm the third person to waste your time), but if it was me I'd post a skateboarding photo I shot some time in 2001. I got into photography through skating, and it's been a passion ever since. The photo I'd post would be the first photo I was truly proud of, and the first shot that everyone else was really stoked on too. And if it's not about ego, what the hell is the point?
And even if I don't win, you've still got my favourite blog on the 'net. I outright criticised someone's kerning the other day - that's all you. Thanks for the memories.

The first photo would be of the Texaco station that's been closed for 15 years, and the logo and all the type is rotting away. Every time I pass it, I want to take a few shots, but I never get the chance.

I already have Flickr account (not Flickr pro). If i were to take the first photo, i would visit and take a photo about people and poverty. And using adding note feature to describe and explain the difficulties they are facing and etc.

I'm a designer. I've linked to and enjoy NDG. I could use the upgrade to Pro from my Flickr freeloader account. That way my Moo cards could all be different, as the Freebe account isn't big enough for 100 images. I would take a picture of various Statues that compose my Lady Liberty Collection. Some 500 in total. It's a collection that is in boxes since I moved to my new place. I would unbox them just for this. Crap that would be a pain.

we might play a game: there, I will promise items in the frame, "there will be for sure" we might call that?: A pink pencil, better logo for a coce, burned cloud, Mr Frutiger & Mrs Eavs, burning bush, all the red dots in the world, one letter from the actual first printed bible of "I hope u know who printed it", very small index of something very long AND... the promotion will be, the actual (visual) moment of rain drop being born out of a cloud!!!
Anyway, it's a nice opportunity to say,I like most of your posts.
nice typed day.

My wife is pregnant (40th week) of a girl, Gemma. Her mother had a cancer removed from her uterus right yesterday.
My first picture will be a portrait of them.
Three generations of women, time goes by, life goes on.
This is our concept about eternity.

Well, I've been using Flickr for some time now (flickr.com/photos/itzechris) and love it, but somehow never seemed to need more than a free account. But they've been nagging me with this message for some time now: "You've run into one of the limits of a free account. Your free account will only display the most recent 200 photos you've uploaded.... " - so now I can't even see the first images I uploaded. With a pro account, I could tell you what the first image I ever uploaded was!

Thanks for all of these. A winner will be announced soon.
Bet you can't wait.
