I always thought this was written by John Betjeman, but everyone else seems to think it's by David Ogilvy. I still say it's by Betjeman.
Naah, those links mostly say it was *quoted* by Ogilvy. I read it elsewhere, really long ago. (And I love quoting it at appropriate moments. Or just muttering under my breath. :D )
