Erik Spiekermann’s critique of the London 2012 tables ( https://x.com/espiekermann/status/231860290076176387 ) was legendary: “1. All caps difficult to read. 2. spacing too tight. 3. italic confusing & redundant. 4. artificial small caps. 5. Arial. 6. messy gradations. [7]. bad”. Erik even spent half an hour in InDesign creating a typographically superior version: https://x.com/espiekermann/status/231877667044065281
